Young Artist Showcase – Performer Bios
Fifteen-year-old Angelica Rosa enjoys singing pop and R & B, as well as selections from popular musicals such as Rent. She takes her musical influences from Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga, Adele, Mariah Carey, and Whitney Houston. She is currently a student at Allegro School of Music with instructor Pamela Dean Bonta.
Ayla is 6 years old and she started playing violin and piano at the age of 3 and currently study violin with Dr.Laura Tagawa and piano with Dr.Svetlana Arakelova. She has won 1st places and several other awards at local/state piano competitions (TMTA,TSO & more) and was invited to perform at various venues in Tucson including TMA, Japanese festival and piano concerto with Civic Orchestra and more. Today, she performs Elve’s Dance (Bohm), Hungarian Suite (Bartok) and Mosquito Dance (Mendelssohn)
Catalina High School Jazz Band
The growing Catalina High School Jazz Band is an after school program at Catalina. These students are all playing their second instrument in this jazz band.
A singer songwriter based in Phoenix Arizona. Elizabeth is a feature of numerous music festivals, venues, radio stations and publications in and outside the state. Her “compelling sound” is one that blends rock, blues and bluegrass to create a style that is completely unique to her. Her second release an EP entitled “Queen Of Hearts” came out in May of this year, She recently signed a licensing deal with the PBS TV show “Roadtrip Nation”.
Guitarras De Catalina
Guitarras De Catalina is a group of advanced players from Catalina High School. They play many different styles of classical guitar and many different genres including, jazz, latin, and Spanish.
Hannah & Meredith
We are a primarily contemporary jazz vocalist/pianist duo. Our set list consists of both original music and covers. We are both passionate about creating and performing music and we are grateful for any opportunity to do so.
Jonas Blackketter is a self taught 12 year old folk guitarist, whose influences include classics such as John Denver, Cat Stevens, and Jim Croce.
Kokino Ma Kai
I play the ukulele, and make ukulele music. The songs are pretty soft and mellow, lots of it is about love, so if you wanna hear some smooth stuff, come watch the show. I’ll give you a hug if you want.
Lauren is a native Tucson singer/songwriter. This talented up-and-coming young artist has been compared to Colbie Caillat and performs a variety of genres including alternative, pop, folk and rock. She plays both guitar and ukulele and was part of the Monterey Court singer/songwriter showcase. Her first CD will be released shortly.
Lila is ten years old but has been singing around the house (and everywhere she goes) since she was born. She loves to write in journals and she has written a few plays and also writes her own songs. She is currently taking guitar and vocal lessons.

Traditional fiddle and original arrangements of folk and alternative folk set for fiddle, voice and ukulele.
Magic Voice Studio Star Strummers – Magic Voice Studio Desert Songbirds
The Magic Voice Studio has been delighting audiences for years with its talented singers and eclectic music styles. Students from the studio have won local, state, national and international singing competitions. The studio has performed with Arizona Opera, recorded an entire album of Italian songs, sings annually at the Tucson Botanical Gardens luminaria nights and most recently provided the voices for the audiobook Shimmer the Glowworm finds her glow” both for singing and narration. They are excited to bring the music of Bob Dylan, the Wailin Jennys, the Kingston trio, and a variety of Appalachian folk songs to the Tucson folk festival.
Molly Sunshine Lorring is 12 years old and has been playing violin for 7 1/2 years. She is also a dancer and attends Khalsa Montessori School.
Mountain View Fiddlers
Mountain View Fiddlers performs fiddle-centric arrangements of traditional fiddle tunes and bluegrass songs. This group of 9 fiddler/singers and accompanists ranging in age from 10 to 72 evolved from the group of Doc Rolland’s apprentices for the 2016 Master-Apprentice Award sponsored by Tucson Southwest Folklife Alliance. The group was featured in 2017 at the Tucson Meet Yourself Festival and the Payson Opry.
Paige is a junior at CDO High School. She is active in basketball and sings folk music on the piano and guitar. She writes her own songs as well.
An 18-year-old singer/songwriter from Marana, AZ, Ricardo E. Garcia is a multi-instrumentalist with experience in 14 instruments including guitar, piano, viola, clarinet, mellophone, upright bass, and more. In addition to his involvement in Marana High School’s orchestra, marching band, and jazz club, he is also the drummer in the punk band, Psycho-Queens and a guitarist in the folk group, Birds Like Cages. He was a finalist in the Tucson Desert Song Festival’s Songwriting Competition. Ricardo will be entering the Fred Fox School of Music on jazz guitar in the fall.
Tara Maria Belger
Tara plays the acoustic guitar and sings. Some of the main groups who have influence her songwriting are the Pixies, David Bowie and the Cure.

ZUZI! Dance is a non-profit arts service organization committed to catalyzing personal expression and healing for people of all backgrounds, ages, and abilities. Through movement-based art forms and somatic practices, ZUZI! Dance provides opportunities and resources for individuals to discover and confidently navigate their creative paths. We offer classes, workshops, and performances for our community to fully experience live art.
