2019 TUCSON FOLK FESTIVAL
APRIL 6-7, 2019 (New Date!)
The Festival has always been the first weekend in May! Why???
After gathering input from the Tucson community through our 2018 post-festival surveys, conducting a Brainstorming Session with interested TKMA staff and community members, and reviewing all 2019 events occuring in the Tucson community, the TKMA Board believed April 6-7, 2019 to be the best option.
Better Volunteer Support: College Students finals occur first weekend in May & “Snowbirds” have already left by first weekend in May.
Better Weather (usually): It was just plain TOO HOT this last festival and a handful of volunteers; became overheated – Performers were too hot! What the heck . . . we ALL were too hot!
2019 TUCSON FOLK FESTIVAL will remain in
HISTORIC DOWNTOWN TUCSON!
The festival footprint will be pretty much the same, only the main festival grounds will take place in Jacome Plaza and surrounding areas. (El Presidio Park is no longer available for festivals).
The festival layout is being fine-tuned by our 2019 TFF Planning Committee, headed by Greg Aiken. We will have six stages: Jacome Plaza (2 stages), La Cocina, Presidio Museum and new this year, Church Avenue Stage (between Alameda & Washington) and the Dusty Monk Pub Stage!
Watch for opportunities to be a part of our events and activities all through this new festival season! You might not always be able to make it to a monthly meeting, or commit to volunteering regularly. However, you can show small actions of support by becoming a TKMA member or Festival Sponsor and/or attend our events throughout the year, including our main event . . . the Annual Tucson Folk Festival!
