The beginning of each festival season is filled with excited anticipation as TKMA board members and staff come together to present a new and exciting Tucson Folk Festival! In our 35th year, we’re exploring various ways to highlight this special year; such as offering a new 35th TFF Cap, hosting a TKMA Tent at the festival offering TKMA memorabilia-some for sale-and there’s more to come! NEW THIS YEAR, we’re starting the festival Friday night at Jacome Plaza featuring a Regional Headliner with an Opening Act on the Plaza Stage! The festival Beer Garden will be open along with food items for sale! Notice we’ve added a new headliner category? There’s just so much talent in and around Tucson, it just felt time . . .
In recognition of our 35th Anniversary, we decided to honor the very first Tucson Folk Festival Design, created by Robert “Bob” Nemec, to be our 35th festival design in his memory. Petie Ronstadt adapted this original design for our 35th year! Thanks, Petie!
Anyone notice our, “WHAT IS FOLK” Campaign? Have you stated your “What Is Folk,” definition on our Facebook Page yet? CLICK HERE. Watch for various events in-and-around Tucson throughout the festival season, as Tucsonans relay their definition to this ongoing question. What is Folk to you?
Most of all, we’d like to THANK YOU for supporting TKMA and the Tucson Folk Festival through the years. We are always reassessing our work and mission to keep TKMA relevant and a reflection of the “music of the people.” Your responses to our post-festival surveys truly assist us in this work. And, your many avenues of support enable us to keep our festival inclusive, free and accessible to all; hopefully, for many years to come!
We invite you to visit the various sections of our website to acquaint yourself with TKMA, and to discover how you can participate in this great organization and support our efforts!
Hope to see you throughout this festival season, and of course, at the festival!
Diane Perry, TKMA President
